Ireland is only a small country but there is a lot to see and do here. Living in Limerick means you can visit some of the most interesting places in one day or over a weekend. Here are just a few examples of what is possible:

In Limerick City:

St. Mary's Medieval Cathedral, King John's Castle, The Hunt Museum, Limerick City Museum, The Georgian House at Pery Square, Angela's Ashes walking tour, The People's Park, Limerick City Gallery of Art.

Around Limerick City:
Bunratty Castle and Folk Park (20 minutes by bus)
Adare Heritage Village (20 minutes by bus)

Killaloe: a lakeside village situated on the shores of Lough Derg (25 minutes by bus)
Foynes Flying Boat Museum, Foynes
Limerick Racecourse www.goracing.ie
Castleconnell: a quaint fishing village on the banks of the Shannon River (25 minutes by bus)

Galway City: Just 1.5 hours by bus.

Rock of Cashel: Just 2 hours by bus/taxi.
Killarney, County Kerry: Just 1.5 hours by bus.
Cork City: Just 1.5 hours by bus.
Dublin City: Just 2 hours by train, 3.5 hours by bus.

Weekend Trips (Hostel accommodation available):
Connemara or the Aran Islands: Easily accessible from Galway.
Dingle Peninsula: Three-hour bus journey, connecting through Tralee.
