Leisure and Free Time

How will you spend your free time in Limerick? Here are just a few suggestions - there are many more!

Cinema - there are 2 cinemas offering 24 screens….. enough to keep any cinema fan happy!

Theatre - we have a small but active theatre in the city centre offering a wide variety of plays and performances throughout the year.

Leisure and Fitness Centres- There are several Fitness Centres in Limerick with well-equipped gyms which can be joined on a short-or long-term basis.

Hobbies - Do you have a special interest or hobby? Maybe hill-walking, poetry-reading, volleyball, photography? Limerick offers clubs for all of these and more. Membership is open but would best suit students staying a few months.

Shopping - branches of all the major stores and shops are to be found in Limerick as well as some local specialty shops not found anywhere else.

Nightlife - As is usual in Ireland, there is no shortage of pubs in Limerick. Then, after hours, the discos open. Students from many different countries tell us that the nightlife in Limerick is great. See for yourself!

Sports - Golf, pitch & putt golf, bowling, horse-riding, swimming, tennis: all can be easily arranged once you are here. If you prefer to watch rather than participate, spectator sports are plentiful: enjoy the excitement of our hurling, Gaelic football, soccer and rugby matches.

Music- Pubs offer traditional and not so traditional music (like Salsa dancing, for example!) and our concert hall at the University features a varied programme from opera to rock stars with everything in between. Limerick's vibrant live music venues complete the picture.
